(Central News Agency reporter Chang Chi, Hualien County, 8th) The Mata'an River landslide dam flood disaster caused 19 deaths and 5 missing persons. Hualien prosecutors and investigators launched another search, including the Hualien County Government and the residence of former acting director Li Wei of the Civil Affairs Department. After questioning, Li Wei was released on NT$100,000 bail, subjected to electronic monitoring, and restricted from leaving the country on suspicion of death by negligence.

Hualien District Prosecutors Office stated today that to continue clarifying whether relevant responsible personnel were involved in criminal liability during the disaster prevention and relief process, they directed the Eastern Region Mobile Investigation Station of the Investigation Bureau yesterday to execute search warrants at Li Wei's residence and the Hualien County Government, seizing relevant evidence.

Prosecutors stated that after re-questioning, they believe Li Wei is highly suspected of death by negligence, but there is no need for detention. To ensure subsequent investigation procedures, Li Wei was ordered to be released on NT$100,000 bail, restricted from residence, leaving the country, and electronic monitoring was implemented.

Hualien prosecutors investigating the Guangfu flood disaster case had already indicted Guangfu Township Mayor Lin Chin-shui, Secretary Chang Yuan-pao, and Civil Affairs Section Chief Wang in March on charges including dereliction of duty causing disaster, causing public officials to make false entries, and death by negligence, seeking a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
