(Central News Agency reporter Huang Chiao-wen, Taipei, 8th) The Danjiang Bridge will officially open at 11:30 AM on May 12, and the opening ceremony evening party will be held tomorrow. The Highway Bureau today stated that from 4 PM tomorrow, the public can enter the bridge from the Tamsui end and proceed to the designated area to watch the evening party via large screens, with a planned capacity of 60,000 people.

Connecting Tamsui and Bali in New Taipei City, the Danjiang Bridge has overcome international bidding, seven failed bids for the main bridge section, budget adjustments, and arduous construction challenges. Lin Fu-shan, Director-General of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Highway Bureau, announced today at a press conference that it will officially open to traffic at 11:30 AM on May 12. The Danjiang Bridge will be Taiwan's new national gateway landmark and a new calling card for Taiwan.

The "Gratitude and Beautiful Night" opening ceremony evening party on May 9 will begin at 6:15 PM at the main stage of Danjiang Bridge. The Highway Bureau stated that the evening party will center on "paying tribute to the engineering heroes who built the Danjiang Bridge," with seating in the main stage area arranged for units involved in the planning, design, supervision, construction, and cross-domain cooperation and assistance of the Danjiang Bridge, as well as engineering heroes who worked hard on-site, their families, and invited guests.

To allow the public to participate in the grand event, the organizer has also planned to install a 700-inch large TV wall and several 300-inch TV screens in the designated viewing area. Chen Gui-fang, head of the Highway Bureau's engineering division, stated that from 4 PM on the 9th, the public will be allowed to enter the bridge from the Tamsui end and proceed to the designated viewing area to synchronously watch the evening party content via large screens, including documentaries on engineering heroes, behind-the-scenes heroes, VIP speeches, drone performances, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre's "Chain of Light" performance, and the simultaneous lighting of landscape pillars and streetlights.

As the evening party will feature drone performances, Chen Gui-fang appealed to the public to cooperate in maintaining order and safety on-site to avoid interference. During the event, it is strictly forbidden to bring and launch private drones, and please do not bring dangerous goods, explosives, flammable materials, or other items that may affect public safety into the venue.

Lin Fu-shan stated that a series of pre-opening activities for the Danjiang Bridge, including road runs, cycling, stargazing concerts, and picnics, are estimated to attract 400,000 people to experience the bridge. Coordination with the Tamsui Police Precinct has been made, and if public participation is enthusiastic for tomorrow's evening party, surrounding roads such as Zhongzheng Road and Shalun Road will be closed. A space capable of accommodating 60,000 participants has been planned.

The Highway Bureau reminds that on May 9, the public access route is "from the Tamsui end main line onto the bridge, to watch the evening party broadcast in the designated viewing area," but it is not possible to use the Danjiang Bridge to walk from Tamsui to Bali. As for the Bali end, it will not be open to the public on that day due to event and safety planning.

The Highway Bureau pointed out that to accommodate the evening party setup, stage safety, security, and crowd guidance needs, the dedicated motorcycle lane, pedestrian walkway, and bicycle path will all be temporarily closed on the day of the event; the main stage area, seating area, staff area, and emergency通道 will be reserved for the ceremony, invited personnel, staff, and safety response.

If the on-site crowd reaches the safe capacity, the Highway Bureau stated that it will take appropriate measures such as crowd diversion, temporary entry suspension, or adjustment of the open area to maintain event safety and quality.

The Highway Bureau stated that the Danjiang Bridge has completed the three stages of pre-opening inspection and has established a pre-opening safety advisory group, which has been reviewed by experts and scholars. Some suggestions are related to post-opening monitoring, which will continue to be observed. In conjunction with the opening, adjustments to surrounding roads and signals have been planned and will be dynamically reviewed with the New Taipei City Transportation Department for any necessary adjustments.

In addition, regarding the progress of the Highway Bureau's previous application to the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs for trademarks related to "Danjiang Bridge," Lin Fu-shan stated that the Intellectual Property Office is still reviewing it, but current observations indicate that public photo-taking and conceptual usage are very positive, and the Highway Bureau's concerns have not materialized.

The main bridge of Danjiang Bridge is approximately 920 meters long, with a main span of 450 meters, making it the world's longest single-tower asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge, designed by the international renowned architect Zaha Hadid Architects. (Editor: Guan Chung-wei) 1150508
