(Central News Agency reporter Wang Yang-yu Taipei 8th) The Legislative Yuan is expected to vote on the defense special act bill as early as today, with reports that the Blue (KMT) and White (TPP) parties plan to jointly propose a New Taiwan Dollar 780 billion version of the bill. Tsai Chi-chang, convener of the DPP legislative caucus, said that the NT$1.25 trillion (Executive Yuan version) is a 100-point version. DPP legislator Wu Sze-yao pointed out that if the Blue-White alliance discounts the 100-point military procurement, it will harm Taiwan and create military defense loopholes.

Regarding the defense special act bill, the Executive Yuan's version allocates a budget of NT$1.25 trillion over 8 years. It is reported that the Legislative Yuan will vote on the bill as early as today, and the Blue-White alliance has reached a consensus to jointly propose a NT$780 billion version.

Addressing the above issues, Tsai Chi-chang reiterated in an interview today that the NT$1.25 trillion (Executive Yuan version) is a 100-point version for protecting Taiwan and avoiding war. However, if a 100-point version cannot be achieved, he will do his best to request an amount as close as possible to NT$1.25 trillion, stating that even purchasing one more weapon provides an additional guarantee for the country.

Wu Sze-yao, who is also the executive director of the DPP Policy Research Department, stated in an interview that the military procurement version proposed by the Blue-White alliance is reportedly NT$780 billion, which is a 62% discount on the country's 100-point military defense. She warned that this would severely harm Taiwan and create military defense loopholes.

DPP legislative caucus secretary-general Chuang Ruei-hsiung questioned why, despite the Blue-White alliance's strong rhetoric against the CCP threat in the past, they have not shown determination to defend Taiwan and the country. Chuang Ruei-hsiung stated that strengthening national defense capabilities should not involve arbitrary pricing. This time, the goal is to build an entire protective network, emphasizing that "not only weapons but also 'eyes and brains' are needed." He added that the public also hopes to enhance overall national defense energy, and this defense special act bill can demonstrate each party's will to protect the country.
