(Central News Agency reporter Pan Tzu-yu, Taipei, 7th) National Development Council (NDC) Chairman Yeh Chun-hsien and Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua jointly visited the United States. In addition to participating in the "SelectUSA Investment Summit" hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, deepening Taiwan-U.S. AI and high-tech cooperation was also a key focus of this trip. This visit not only included inspecting the planned construction site of TSMC's factory in Arizona but also involved in-depth exchanges with high-level U.S. officials.
The NDC today issued a press release stating that the itinerary included visiting the planned construction site of TSMC's factory in Arizona and calling on relevant state government agencies, followed by visits to Washington for in-depth exchanges with high-level U.S. officials and important think tanks on issues of AI technology autonomy and economic security resilience. It is hoped that the two sides can upgrade from simple supply chain complementary cooperation to a strategic economic partnership.
Yeh Chun-hsien pointed out that artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation have become new engines leading global development, and Taiwan is actively building AI core infrastructure and a trustworthy ecosystem. Through Taiwan's "Five Core Strategic Industries" and "AI New Ten Major Constructions," the benefits of complementary supply chain cooperation can be expanded.
Yeh Chun-hsien stated at a meeting with high-level U.S. officials that to support the strategy of "Taiwanese enterprises rooted in Taiwan, global layout" and deepen Taiwan-U.S. supply chain cooperation, the Taiwanese government has planned to establish a "financing guarantee mechanism to support enterprises investing in the United States." He also suggested that the U.S. encourage manufacturers to expand investment in Taiwan's five core strategic industries and AI New Ten Major Constructions.
Yeh Chun-hsien pointed out that Taiwan and the U.S. industries have long been complementary, and expanding two-way investment will promote mutual development. He hopes that Taiwan's top manufacturing capabilities, combined with U.S. innovation, R&D, talent, and market advantages, will make them the most important high-tech strategic partners, jointly consolidating their global high-tech leadership.
In addition, Yeh Chun-hsien also had face-to-face exchanges with 37 startup companies from the Taiwan delegation participating in the "SelectUSA Investment Summit." Seven teams were also selected for the domestic "Startup Blossom - Startup Grand Alliance Competition" top 100, and five of them advanced to the final top 30, demonstrating their potential to enter the international market.
Yeh Chun-hsien stated that the NDC will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Financial Supervisory Commission, and other ministries to assist Taiwanese enterprises and startups in deepening their international layout. (Edited by Yang Lan-hsuan) 1150507
