(Central News Agency reporter Wang Chao-yu, Yilan 7th) Kuomintang (KMT) Yilan County Magistrate candidate Wu Tsung-hsien today proposed a policy of universal amniocentesis subsidies, while Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Yilan County Magistrate candidate Lin Kuo-chang has already proposed a policy to increase birth allowances from the current NT$20,000 to NT$30,000, aiming to reduce family burdens.

Wu Tsung-hsien, who visited the Nanbeiguan Market in Yilan City to distribute Mother's Day bouquets, stated in a press release that over 70% of young mothers in Yilan are young, but central government subsidies mostly focus on older pregnant women. He advocates for universal subsidies, allowing all pregnant women to undergo amniocentesis or blood tests.

He said that he would expand prenatal health check subsidies to include ovarian function testing and more precise cervical cancer screening. In addition to central government-funded screenings, he would expand the scope and対象 of lung cancer screening, providing a full subsidy of NT$3,800 for 2,000 people annually. He would also offer three free postpartum psychological counseling sessions and home care services to help new mothers adjust physically and mentally.

Lin Kuo-chang's campaign office stated that a plan was proposed in March to establish a support system from economy, health, workplace to childcare. The core of the policy includes increasing birth allowances to NT$30,000; providing a one-time NT$30,000 egg freezing subsidy for women aged 25 to 39; free spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) or preeclampsia screening for women within 12 weeks of pregnancy; promoting a doubling of childcare capacity for children aged 0 to 2; and expanding holiday temporary childcare services.

In addition, Lin Kuo-chang's campaign office said that truly loving mothers and families must be built on a foundation of national security. They hope to no longer see military procurement budgets blocked, emphasizing that there is a nation before there is a family. Only by protecting national sovereignty and security can every mother truly live a stable and happy life in Yilan and Taiwan. (Editor: Li Ming-tsung) 1150507
