(Central News Agency reporter Huang Qiaowen, Taipei, 7th) The section between Shanli and Luye on the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) line is temporarily closed due to a power line fault caused by a fallen tree. TRA announced today that some trains will operate on shortened routes or be suspended, with repairs estimated to be completed by 4 PM. Until then, standing tickets will be available for all classes of express trains between Hualien and Taitung, and Taitung and Xinzuoying, to facilitate passenger movement.

TRA stated via message that at 10:41 AM, it received a report that the power line between Shanli and Luye was broken by a fallen tree by the tracks. The company immediately established a first-level emergency response team, and bus shuttle services between Taitung and Guanshan were activated immediately.

TRA stated that for all classes of express trains between Hualien and Taitung, and Taitung and Xinzuoying, standing tickets will be available until 4 PM to facilitate passenger movement. Repairs are expected to be completed by 4 PM.

Affected by this incident, TRA pointed out that some trains will operate on shortened routes or be suspended. Among them, train 653 from Taitung to Changhua is entirely suspended. Train 417 will depart specially from Hualien, with the section between Taitung and Hualien suspended. Additionally, trains 406, 421, 408, 419, 410, 423, 308, 477, 472, and 431 between Taitung and Guanshan are suspended.

Regarding regulations for refunds, exchanges, and re-ticketing, TRA explained that passengers whose scheduled train services are affected by the power line equipment fault, resulting in train suspension, missed connections, or inability to travel, may apply for a refund within one year from the date of travel by presenting an unused ticket at any station ticket counter, with no refund handling fee. For refunds processed through channels other than station ticket counters, the refund will be processed after deducting handling fees according to the channel provider's regulations.

TRA stated that passengers holding TRA periodic tickets for the interrupted section will have their validity period extended by one day, as announced by the station. (Editor: Guan Zhongwei) 1150507
