Tainan and Kanazawa City, Japan Sign Agreement to Promote Tourism and Cultural Exchange

(Central News Agency reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan, 7th) Tainan City and Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, today signed an "Agreement to Promote Tourism and Cultural Exchange," hoping to foster friendly relations and mutual development between the two cities. Kanazawa City will also become Tainan City's 63rd international sister city.

Tainan City Government today issued a press release stating that the "Agreement to Promote Tourism and Cultural Exchange" was signed by Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che and Kanazawa Mayor Takashi Murayama. Japan's Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Norihisa Sasaki, also recorded a video message to congratulate them, looking forward to both sides working together towards a new milestone.

Huang Wei-che pointed out that Yoichi Hatta built the Wushantou Reservoir, nourishing the Chianan Plain and irrigating the deep friendship between Tainan City and Kanazawa City. After the completion of the Yoichi Hatta Memorial Park in 2011, Kanazawa City has sent personnel to participate in memorial activities every year, a touching friendship. He hopes that the signing of this agreement will deepen and broaden cooperation between the two sides in tourism and cultural heritage, and that cross-generational and cross-national friendship will continue indefinitely.

Murayama Takashi said that the exchange between Kanazawa City and Tainan City began in 2011 when Kanazawa City first participated in the Yoichi Hatta memorial service. Since then, the two sides have successively established friendly relations at the tourism, parliamentary, and private group levels, caring for each other. He looks forward to promoting exchanges between the private sector and the younger generation through the conclusion of this agreement, fostering friendly relations and mutual development between the two cities.

Yoichi Hatta was born in Kanazawa City, and the famous tourist attraction "Kenrokuen" is also in Kanazawa City. The Kanazawa City delegation is scheduled to attend the Yoichi Hatta memorial service at Wushantou Reservoir tomorrow. (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150507
