(Central News Agency reporter Chao Li-yen, Taichung, May 7th) – Taichung Qingshui Aofeng Mountain's 'Guliao Playground' opened today. The park covers an area of 30 hectares and features 34 slides, including a tree-themed slide, a musical slide that plays music when you slide down, and a 28-meter long slide, making it a highlight for family recreation.

Taichung City Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen presided over the opening ceremony of the 'Guliao Playground' at Aofeng Mountain Park in Qingshui District, Taichung. Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chi-chen, Kuomintang Legislator Yang Chiung-ying, Taichung City Council Speaker Chang Ching-chao, and Democratic Progressive Party City Councilor Yang Dien-chung were among those who attended.

Lu Hsiu-yen stated that she loved playing on slides as a child, and after taking office, she made unique slides a key focus for park improvements, aiming to make Taichung City's slides the most distinctive and fun family recreation highlight in the country.

Lu Hsiu-yen pointed out that Guliao Playground features tree-shaped slides with a multi-layered climbing structure, allowing children to move between platforms; it also has musical slides that play music when sliding down; and a 28-meter long-distance slide to meet the needs of older children and adults. The total cost of Guliao Playground exceeded 70 million New Taiwan Dollars, fully funded by the Taichung City Government.

Construction Bureau Director Chen Ta-tien stated that the playground fully incorporates universal design concepts, including barrier-free pathways and gentle ramp systems, and integrates existing fitness facilities and shaded green spaces, allowing seniors, people with disabilities, and families with children to use it safely. During the construction process, existing trees in the site were fully preserved, and shading facilities and greening arrangements were incorporated to maintain ecological features while enhancing the comfort of outdoor activities, balancing sustainable environment and recreational quality.
