Mayor Lu Shiow-yen presented a plaque inscribed with "Virtue and Benevolence" (德佑澤被), thanking the temple for assisting in promoting arts and cultural performances, and combining Mazu culture with tourism energy to showcase the charm of religious culture.

The "2026 Taichung Mazu International Tourism and Culture Festival" commenced in the evening at Shekou Wanxing Temple in Shengang District. Multiple art groups took turns performing. Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, Legislative Yuan Deputy Speaker Chiang Chi-chen, Kuomintang Legislator Yang Chiung-ying, and several local representatives attended. The scene was lively with 148 tables set, and many other temples participating.

Mayor Lu Shiow-yen stated in her speech that the 23rd day of the third lunar month is Mazu's birthday, and this Sunday also coincides with Mother's Day, wishing everyone "Happy Mother's Day." She also drew a NT$6600 red envelope on the spot, which was won by an event staff member, prompting Mayor Lu to exclaim, "Mazu is fair."

Civil Affairs Bureau Director Wu Shih-wei explained that the origin of Shekou Wanxing Temple can be traced back to the Dajia Xishe Incident in the 9th year of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, General Pan Dun-zi and Chief Interpreter Chang Da-jing, among others, were rewarded by Emperor Yongzheng for their success in quelling the rebellion. On their way back to Taiwan, they passed through Meizhou and requested to enshrine the spirit of the Heavenly Holy Mother in Taiwan.
