(Central News Agency reporter Li Chien-chung, Taipei, May 7th) – After the Sports Administration was established on September 9th last year, it first promoted the Athlete Committee, and today it further proposed the "Standard Organizational Guidelines for Specialized Committees of Specific Sports Groups." This aims to comprehensively optimize the selection/training, coaching, refereeing, and disciplinary committees, hoping to make association operations more transparent.

Hung Chih-chang, Permanent Deputy Minister of the Sports Administration, stated that many single-sport associations are currently undergoing or have completed re-elections in May and June. Therefore, the Sports Administration had already notified 73 specific sports groups on March 4th to promptly complete the amendment of specialized committees after their board and supervisor re-elections, hoping to create a more open and transparent environment for sports development.

According to statistics from the Sports Administration, 15 single-sport associations have already completed re-elections and have established their selection/training, coaching, refereeing, disciplinary, and athlete committees in accordance with regulations.

Among them, for the selection and training committee, which is most relevant to athletes, the Sports Administration's listed member categories include "holders of international-level referee certificates or valid A-level referee certificates," "former national team coaches," "former national team athletes retired within eight years," "sports professionals," and "legal professionals." The number of members in each category must not exceed one-third of the total number of committee members.

The convener of the selection and training committee must be someone who has served as a "former national team coach" or a "former national team athlete retired within eight years." The association's chairman, vice-chairman, secretary-general, deputy secretary-general, and full-time staff are not allowed to hold this position concurrently.

Hung Chih-chang told Central News Agency reporters that for "sports professionals" in the selection and training committee, the hope is for individuals with relevant professional knowledge or background in that sport, or those who have served at the grassroots level. Otherwise, an explanation for the choice must be provided.

Hung Chih-chang added, "Regardless of the committee, the member categories we list will still be considered based on the characteristics of each sport. For example, it might be more challenging for winter sports to fully comply, but if there are parts that are difficult to implement, associations can propose amendments and report them to the Sports Administration, and any reasonable request will be respected."

Hung Chih-chang emphasized that the Sports Administration's position is to hope that all associations can complete the amendment of these five committees within one month after re-election. If not implemented, it will be included in the annual performance evaluation and used as a standard for annual funding subsidies. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150507
