US-Iran War Key News

(Central News Agency, Seoul, 7th, comprehensive foreign report) The Iranian Embassy in South Korea issued a statement on the 6th, firmly opposing and strongly denying all claims of Iranian military involvement in the explosion and fire of a South Korean vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

Yonhap News Agency reported that the Panama-flagged cargo ship Namu, owned by HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine), exploded and caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of the 4th. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and all 24 crew members remained on board. Amid speculation that the incident might have been an attack by Iran, Iran explicitly denied responsibility for the matter.

US President Trump had stated that Iran "fired a few shots" at the cargo ship and other targets, but the Seoul government said it is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

According to Agence France-Presse, the Iranian Embassy in Seoul emphasized in a statement that the Tehran authorities "firmly oppose and categorically deny any accusations regarding the involvement of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the incident of damage to a South Korean vessel in the Strait of Hormuz."

The embassy stated that safe passage through this vital waterway "requires full compliance with applicable regulations, proper attention to published warnings, adherence to designated routes, and coordination with the competent authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran," and warned that any disregard could lead to "unforeseen incidents."

The statement added: "If relevant parties do not properly consider these factors when passing through the area or conducting activities, they should bear the consequences themselves." (Compiler: Li Pei-shan) 1150507
