(Central News Agency reporter Lu Tai-cheng, Taitung County, 7th) Taitung County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling today delivered her comprehensive policy report to the council. She spoke about resolving many delayed cases since taking office, including the construction of the county library, the operation of the incinerator, and the issue of "returning land to the people," while also looking forward to welcoming the Taitung Expo in July.

The Taitung County Council held its 20th session, 7th regular meeting today, inviting Rao Ching-ling to deliver her comprehensive policy report. Focusing on "Empathizing with the suffering of the people and facing problems," she explained the achievements of the county government team in recent years across major constructions, urban planning, offshore island transportation, medical care, and social welfare.

Rao Ching-ling emphasized that county governance is not about shouting slogans but about resolving issues that concern the public one by one. Many cases that had been delayed for years, such as the activation of idle land at Taiping Veterans Home, new construction of the county library, legalization of Dongyouji, construction of Fugang Tourist Center, transformation and reuse of Sanxiwan, operation of the incinerator, legalization of Guan Shan Waterfront Park land, de-designation of East Coast hillside land, and resolution of Tianhou Temple land ownership, are all achievements of the county government team's continuous coordination and gradual breakthroughs in recent years.

Regarding long-standing urban planning issues, Rao Ching-ling stated that the county government has accelerated comprehensive reviews in the past 8 years, completing 56 cases and announcing their implementation. Simultaneously, facing the problem of public facility land being designated but not expropriated for a long time, a special project comprehensive review mechanism was developed. This mechanism was approved by the Ministry of the Interior on April 28 this year, gradually relaxing land use restrictions while balancing urban development and the rights of county residents.

Rao Ching-ling pointed out that the county government also continues to strengthen offshore island ports, medical, and social welfare services, including related projects for Fugang Port, Green Island Nanliao Fishing Port, and Orchid Island Kaiyuan Port, as well as 5G remote medical care, ambulance mobile emergency rooms, expansion of social work staff, and construction of social welfare venues. These efforts aim to make public services closer to public needs and allow Taitung to steadily move forward with limited resources.

Rao Ching-ling mentioned that the 2026 Taitung Expo will take place from July 3 to August 20, with "Slow for Life" as its main theme. It plans 9 major exhibition areas across the county and 10 major curatorial themes, bringing together 23 themed exhibitions, 200 limited events, connecting 22 private participation projects, and over 220 brand-licensed products.

Rao Ching-ling pointed out that the content covers themes such as slow economy, sustainable living, South Island culture, education, youth, crafts, baseball, sound art, and old town walks. The main venue, "School of Life," will be located at the Taitung County Stadium, leading the public to rediscover Taitung's nature, culture, and pace of life through exhibitions.

Rao Ching-ling stated that during the Taitung Expo, shuttle buses will be arranged to connect exhibition points such as the Taitung Transfer Station, National Sports Center, County Stadium, Taitung Art Museum, Taitung Indigenous Cultural and Creative Park (TTICC), County Library, Prehistoric Museum, and Baseball Village. She hopes that councilors and county residents will help promote the event and sincerely invites people nationwide to visit Taitung during the summer vacation to participate in this exclusive Taitung summer festival, experiencing Taitung with their feet and seeing Taitung with their hearts.
