Central News Agency (Taipei, May 7th, reporter Wu Hsin-yun) - Minister of Labor, Hung Shen-han, stated today that the ministry is currently studying raising the ceiling for employment insurance premiums, so that higher-paid workers applying for parental leave allowances can better match their salaries. The evaluation is currently positive and the study "will not take too long." Hung Shen-han attended the Social Welfare and Health Environment Committee of the Legislative Yuan today to report on business conditions and answer questions. In response to questions from Democratic Progressive Party legislator Lin Yueh-chin and Kuomintang legislator Chen Ching-hui, Hung Shen-han pointed out that labor insurance has financial pressure, so adjustments to the labor insurance salary ceiling need to be carefully evaluated. As for the employment insurance premium ceiling, the Ministry of Labor is indeed evaluating it, so that the employment insurance salary ceiling can be decoupled from labor insurance. Hung Shen-han stated that the preliminary evaluation shows feasibility, especially as more and more workers are applying for parental leave. For relatively high-paid workers, if the employment insurance premium is raised, these workers can receive more allowances. The ministry is actively studying this. Hung Shen-han emphasized that the financial source for parental leave allowances comes from the Employment Insurance Fund. Currently, the ceiling for labor occupational accident insurance premiums has been decoupled from labor insurance, and the decoupling of employment insurance premiums from labor insurance has high feasibility. Regarding Chen Ching-hui's question about how long the study would take, Hung Shen-han said that three months is too long, and it "will not take too long." The current ceiling for employment insurance premiums is NT$45,800. (Editor: Guan Zhongwei) 1150507. Stand with the facts, every sponsorship you make is a force to protect press freedom.
