(Central News Agency reporter Cheng Ching-yu, Warsaw 7th) The Polish government announced today that ElectroMobility Poland (EMP), the company leading Poland's national electric vehicle project "Izera," and Foxconn Technology Group will become strategic partners. Polish media reported that Poland decided to switch to cooperating with Foxconn Group due to concerns that Chinese partners might be reserved about key technology transfer.

According to the Polish Press Agency (PAP), Wojciech Balczun, Poland's Minister of State Assets, confirmed at a press conference that EMP and Foxconn have officially signed an agreement to jointly advance the development and production of Poland's first electric vehicle brand. This move symbolizes that Poland's electric vehicle project "Izera," after years of seeking partners, has officially entered the substantive implementation phase.

Polish financial news outlet "Business Insider" reported that EMP and Foxconn will collaborate to establish an "electric vehicle industrial hub" in Jaworzno, southern Poland.

The report pointed out that since its establishment in 2016, EMP had previously cooperated with China's Geely Auto and Chery Automobile. However, due to concerns that Chinese partners might be reserved about key technology transfer, it decided to switch to cooperating with Foxconn Group.

"motofacts.pl" reported that Foxconn, as the world's leading electronics contract manufacturer, may provide its self-developed MIH open platform technology, which can not only shorten the research and development timeline but also meet the Polish government's demand for "technology transfer." The two parties also plan to achieve up to 70% localization of parts production in the future.

"Business Insider" reported that the cooperation plan between EMP and Foxconn will receive a huge investment of approximately 4.5 billion Zloty (about NT$39.15 billion) from Poland's "National Reconstruction Plan."

The Polish National Electric Vehicle Plan is a project launched in 2016, aiming to enable Poland to participate in the global electric vehicle market. EMP, the leading company, was established by four Polish national energy companies: PGE, Tauron, Enea, and Energa.

In 2023, the Polish Treasury subscribed to newly issued shares, holding 90.8% of the equity since then, while each energy company holds 2.3% of the equity.

Foxconn also issued a press release stating that it is collaborating with its subsidiary Foxtron to evaluate the possibility of establishing an electric vehicle manufacturing and R&D center in Poland with EMP. Together, they aim to deepen local R&D capabilities, strengthen the supply chain system, and more efficiently serve the European market. (Edited by Tang Pei-chun) 1150507
