(Central News Agency reporter Cao Ya-yan, New Taipei 7th) In the early morning today, a Myanmar national surnamed Li in Huaxin Street, Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, damaged his compatriot roommate's motorcycle and, unable to compensate, caused a dispute. Li then used a knife to slash the other party's neck, causing massive bleeding. The roommate was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, and Li was arrested on the spot by the police for attempted murder.

According to the Zhonghe Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department, the 32-year-old Myanmar national, Mr. Li, came to Taiwan with a tourist visa in 2019 and has overstayed for seven years. He lived with his 21-year-old compatriot roommate on Huaxin Street. Around 6 AM today, Mr. Li damaged his roommate's motorcycle and, unable to afford the repair costs, also feared that his roommate would report his undocumented status. A dispute erupted, during which Mr. Li wielded a fruit knife, slashing his roommate's neck and causing massive bleeding. An ambulance was called, and the roommate was immediately sent to the hospital.

Upon receiving the report, the police arrived at the scene, subdued Mr. Li, and arrested him for attempted murder.
