(Central News Agency reporter Guan Rui-ping, Miaoli County, May 7) A 36-year-old woman surnamed Cai today afternoon drove her friends to Miaoli City to meet her ex-boyfriend, surnamed Huang, and others for a negotiation. Allegedly, an argument broke out, and Ms. Cai twice stepped on the accelerator, ramming into the other party before fleeing, causing Mr. Huang and two others to be injured and sent to the hospital. The police are currently making every effort to track her down.
The Miaoli County Fire Department stated that at 4:45 PM, they received a report that pedestrians were hit by a vehicle on Ziyuan Street in Miaoli City. Three patients had multiple abrasions and contusions, one of whom stated that they were run over by the vehicle and had more severe injuries. All three were conscious and sent to Dachien Hospital for treatment.
According to surveillance footage near the scene of the crime, a woman driving a white Mercedes-Benz sedan was initially parked against traffic on Ziyuan Street in Miaoli City. At that time, several people, including a 44-year-old man surnamed Huang, were standing and talking at the entrance of the community opposite. During the process, there was an argument and some pulling, and the white sedan suddenly made a U-turn and drove directly towards the community entrance.
After everyone dodged in shock, the white sedan, disregarding the people in front of the car, made another sharp right turn. The female driver hit Mr. Huang and others, then drove away with her friends.
The police's preliminary investigation revealed that the 36-year-old woman surnamed Cai drove her current boyfriend and a male friend to the scene in the afternoon to negotiate with her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Huang. Several of Mr. Huang's friends were also present. During the negotiation, Ms. Cai remained in the car. Seeing an argument break out between the two parties outside the car, she intentionally drove into them, injuring Mr. Huang, Mr. Huang's friend Mr. Guo, and a Ms. Huang. Mr. Huang suffered a fractured pelvis.
The police stated that they have collected evidence from nearby surveillance footage and identified Ms. Cai. They will continue to investigate the case on charges of assault and endangering public safety, and are making every effort to bring the suspect to justice. (Editor: Zhang Ming-kun) 1150507
