Ms. Chang posted on the social media platform Threads today, stating that a terrible incident of dogs being shot by arrows occurred in Liyu Village, Sanyi, and attached two photos of injured dogs, condemning it as "absolutely despicable." The photos showed a dog lying on the ground with an arrow piercing its chest, bleeding profusely and barely alive, a heartbreaking sight.

Ms. Chang told the media in a phone interview that her mother, who lives in Liyu Village, Sanyi, discovered in the early morning that a stray dog she usually cared for and fed had been shot by an arrow. She didn't know what to do at first. After receiving a call for help from her mother, she rushed back to her mother's home to take the dog to an animal hospital in Fengyuan District, Taichung City for treatment.

The woman said that the injured stray dog had always been close to her mother and would accompany her mother in recycling. Last night, her mother heard dogs barking outside and thought they were fighting. Unexpectedly, she found the dog severely injured in the early morning. After being sent to the hospital, the veterinarian assessed the situation as not optimistic. In addition, some villagers said that another stray dog near the Tudigong temple was also shot dead by an arrow.

"It's terrible," Ms. Chang said, adding that the village is full of elderly people, and there is also an elementary school nearby. Such behavior must not be tolerated, and she has already reported it to the police.

The Miaoli County Police Department's Miaoli Precinct stated that after receiving the report from the public, officers immediately assisted in sending the injured dog to an animal hospital for emergency treatment. As the case involves attacking animals with weapons, which is a serious offense, a special task force has been formed to actively investigate.

The Miaoli Police Precinct reminded that according to Article 25, Paragraph 1 of the Animal Protection Act, anyone who violates Article 5, Paragraph 2, Article 6, or Article 12, Paragraph 1 of the same Act by slaughtering, intentionally harming, or causing harm to animals, resulting in severe mutilation or loss of important organ function, will face imprisonment of up to two years or detention, and may also be fined not less than NT$200,000 and not more than NT$2,000,000.
