(Central News Agency reporters Wu Hsin-yun, Chen Chieh-ling, Wang Shu-fen, Taipei 7th) The government is promoting the "Good Pregnancy 3 Plan." Starting this year, regardless of the type of social insurance or if one has no insurance, a mother giving birth to one child can receive the original maternity benefit supplemented to NT$100,000. Payments will be made sequentially before Mother's Day. For example, those covered by National Pension, who originally received NT$42,206, will now receive an additional NT$50,000-plus.
In response to the severe issue of declining birthrates, the Executive Yuan launched the "Good Pregnancy 3 Plan" this year, which includes raising the existing maternity benefits across different social insurances to a uniform NT$100,000. Citizens giving birth to one child can receive NT$100,000, and those giving birth to twins can receive NT$200,000. The total budget for this is NT$4.72 billion, and the budget is already in place.
According to regulations, different social insurance statuses have different maternity benefit standards. Labor Insurance provides 2 months' worth of average monthly insured salary, National Pension Insurance provides 2 months' worth of monthly insured amount, and Farmers' Health Insurance provides 3 months' worth of monthly insured amount. Therefore, this uniform increase to NT$100,000 will result in different additional amounts.
For Labor Insurance, if the maternity benefit is calculated based on the highest insured salary of NT$45,800 x 2, the maximum receivable is NT$91,600. Supplemented to NT$100,000, an additional NT$8,400 can be received.
For Farmers' Health Insurance, the current monthly insured amount is uniformly NT$20,400, and the maternity benefit is NT$61,200. Supplemented to NT$100,000, an additional NT$38,800 can be received.
For National Pension, calculated at NT$21,103, the maternity benefit is NT$42,206. Supplemented to NT$100,000, an additional NT$57,794 subsidy can be received.
The Bureau of Labor Insurance stated that for all newborns born in Taiwan on or after January 1st of this year, regardless of whether the mother is covered by Labor Insurance, National Pension, Farmers' Health Insurance, or is not participating in relevant social insurance, they can claim the original social insurance maternity benefit plus the government-issued maternity subsidy, totaling NT$100,000 per child.
The Bureau of Labor Insurance recently initiated the disbursement process to retroactively pay those who were delayed due to the budget not being reviewed since January this year. The Bureau of Labor Insurance said that payments for National Pension and those not participating in relevant social insurance will be credited today, while Labor Insurance and Farmers' Health Insurance payments will be credited tomorrow.
