(Central News Agency reporter Zhang Shuling, Beijing, May 7) With the "Xi-Trump summit" scheduled for next week, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and National People's Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji separately met with the visiting US Senator Steve Daines delegation in Beijing today. Both mentioned China's stance on Taiwan.

Trump is expected to visit China from the 14th to the 15th and will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The US bipartisan delegation led by Daines arrived in China on the 1st and met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi earlier today.

Xinhua News Agency reported that Li Qiang told Daines and his delegation that he hopes the US and China will meet each other halfway, engaging in more dialogue rather than confrontation, more mutually beneficial cooperation rather than zero-sum games, and maintaining stable and predictable US-China economic and trade relations, which is in the fundamental interests of both countries.

He also stated, "The Taiwan issue concerns China's core interests and is the first insurmountable red line in US-China relations." He hopes that the US Congress will cautiously view and handle issues involving China from the overall perspective of US-China friendship and cooperation, playing an active role in the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of US-China relations.

Zhao Leji, during his meeting, stated that the Taiwan issue is "the core of China's core interests and the most important issue in US-China relations." He hopes that the US will abide by the One-China principle and carefully address and handle the Taiwan issue.

Zhao Leji also said that since last year, under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of both countries, US-China relations have achieved overall stability. China is willing to work with the US to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, strengthen dialogue and communication, properly manage differences, and expand pragmatic cooperation. The National People's Congress of China is willing to strengthen exchanges with the US Congress to achieve more communication and mutual visits. (Editor: Yang Sheng-ru)1150507
