(Central News Agency reporter Hsieh Chun-lin, Taipei, 7th) The Ministry of Justice announced today that the 4th National Report International Review Conference on the Two Covenants will be held from May 11 to 15. This review conference has specially invited 12 world-class human rights experts to gather in Taiwan to engage in exchanges on human rights issues such as environmental rights and migrant worker equality.

The Ministry of Justice issued a press release stating that the Ministry is committed to making this grand international review event an important platform for deepening dialogue between the government and civil society organizations and jointly improving human rights governance. This review conference has specially invited 12 world-class human rights experts to gather in Taiwan, with international human rights experts Manfred Nowak and Heisoo Shin serving as chairpersons of the committees for the two covenants (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights) respectively.

According to the press release, this group of experts will engage in substantive exchanges with Taiwanese government representatives and civil society organizations on diverse and emerging human rights issues, including digital transformation, environmental rights, migrant workers, and ethnic equality. The Ministry of Justice emphasized that even in the face of complex international situations, Taiwan has always insisted on aligning with international human rights standards.

The press release mentioned that to ensure the professionalism and rigor of the review process, the Ministry of Justice convened multiple "Guidance Group Meetings for the 4th National Report International Review of the Two Covenants" during the preparation period, inviting domestic human rights experts to jointly deliberate on the review procedures. At the same time, to expand public participation, the Ministry of Justice strictly followed the "Guidelines for Domestic and International Civil Society Organizations to Submit Parallel Reports and Parallel Responses for the 4th National Report on the Two Covenants" to ensure that international experts can hear diverse perspectives from both the government and civil society.

The Ministry of Justice stated that to allow all citizens to jointly witness Taiwan's progress in aligning human rights with international standards, the review conference will provide full online live streaming and simultaneous interpretation. The Ministry of Justice will continue to play the role of administrative staff and a bridge for dialogue, strengthening the national human rights protection system, so that Taiwan's democracy and justice can be synchronized with the world.
