(CNA Reporter Chang Chi, Hualien County 7th) Hualien's elongated terrain and beautiful scenery are suitable for cycling. The county government has reviewed and fine-tuned existing cycling routes, launching a route from Qixingtan to Liyu Lake in the Huadong Rift Valley, spanning 33 kilometers and connecting scenic spots and farmers' associations along the way.

The Hualien County Government Tourism Department stated that to promote low-carbon sustainable tourism and a cycling-friendly city, they have fine-tuned the Two Lakes, Two Rail, and Baibao Creek cycling routes to improve riding safety and tourism quality. Updated route information is available on the Tourism Department's official website.

Tourism Industry Section Chief Cheng Li-yu stated today that considering the original route from Qixingtan towards Jinding Fishing Ground to Liyu Lake Scenic Area, which involved turning onto Hualien County Road 33, was narrow and had many undulating terrains. The revised route now incorporates well-known attractions in Jian Township, creating a more suitable long-distance cycling route.

After the revision, new stops include Hualien Sea Dyke, Ji'an Qingxiu Temple, Ji'an Farmers' Association, and Gancheng Green Corridor. The entire route is 33 kilometers long, allowing tourists to replenish their energy during their ride, savor local agricultural products, and also provides public restrooms and rest areas.

The Hualien County Government Tourism Department reminds that to maintain the safety of the cycling paths, it has announced that dedicated paths for the “Two Lakes, Two Rail, and Baibao Creek Cycling Paths” prohibit cars, motorcycles, and micro-electric two-wheeled vehicles. Violators will be penalized according to the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act. (Editor: Lee Heng-shan) 1150507
