(Central News Agency reporter Lu Kang-chun, Hsinchu City, 7th) Construction began today on "Skybridge No. 7" located at Puding 2nd Road and the east side of Ciyun Road in Hsinchu City. The construction period is expected to be 6 months. Upon completion, it will connect residential areas, commercial districts, and daily routes, further improving the local pedestrian network.
The groundbreaking ceremony for Hsinchu City's "Second-level Public Pedestrian Passage Project on Puding 2nd Road and the East Side of Ciyun Road (Skybridge No. 7)" was held today. Mayor Kao Hung-an stated in her speech that Skybridge No. 7 is the second skybridge funded by private capital, following Skybridge No. 8 which connects to an American-style hypermarket, demonstrating the achievements of public-private cooperation in promoting urban construction.
Kao Hung-an said that with multiple skybridges gradually connecting, residents will be able to directly enter shopping malls or traverse communities via elevated passages in the future, without having to wait for traffic lights at the busy Ciyun Road intersection. This will not only effectively enhance pedestrian safety but also divert pedestrian and vehicle flows, alleviating traffic pressure along Ciyun Road.
The Hsinchu City Government's Public Works Department provided news materials, stating that this project was initiated in 2024. After multiple reviews and overall evaluations, it aims to reduce visual blind spot risks, enhance nighttime lighting under the bridge, and incorporate user-friendly design for female users, balancing passage safety, environmental quality, and convenience of use.
The Public Works Department pointed out that the population in the Guanpu area continues to grow, and overall traffic demand is gradually increasing. Due to the busy traffic along Ciyun Road, pedestrians often have to wait a long time to cross intersections. After the completion of the skybridge, it will effectively divert pedestrian and vehicle flows, further enhancing passage convenience and overall safety. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150507
