(Central News Agency Reporter Wu Shu-wei, Taipei 7th) Regarding whether soldiers who have retired for more than 8 years, or officers and NCOs who have retired for more than 12 years, will still be subject to reserve training, the Ministry of National Defense pointed out that some reservists who have retired for more than 8 years (soldiers) or more than 12 years (officers/NCOs) will still receive a "mobilization notice" within the year, pre-announcing matters related to wartime mobilization, but no regular reserve training will be conducted.

Article 27 of the Enforcement Act of the Military Service Act stipulates that the scope, number, and duration of educational or service call-ups shall be implemented by the Ministry of National Defense according to annual plans, limited to four times within 8 years after retirement, with each call-up not exceeding 20 days. However, the Ministry of National Defense may appropriately increase the years, times, and duration based on military needs.

To meet the selection and recruitment needs of reserve units, the Ministry of National Defense lifted the 8-year management policy for retired personnel starting from 2021 (ROC year 110) and extended it to 12 years. The main targets for call-ups are officers and NCOs who have not been called up for reserve training four times within 8 years.

Regarding recent online discussions on whether those who have retired for more than 12 years will still be subject to reserve training or receive a mobilization notice, the Ministry of National Defense responded to the Central News Agency's inquiry, stating that according to the mobilization regulations of the "Military Service Act," all reservists who have not reached the age of discharge are included in the management system. Furthermore, according to Article 27 of the "Enforcement Act of the Military Service Act" regarding educational call-ups, in response to military needs, the educational call-up period for reserve officers and NCOs has been appropriately increased from 8 years to 12 years since 2021, while soldiers remain at 8 years.

The Ministry of National Defense stated that some reservists who have retired for more than 8 years (soldiers) or more than 12 years (officers/NCOs) will still receive a "mobilization notice" within the year, pre-announcing matters related to wartime mobilization, so that personnel can report immediately upon the effective date of the mobilization order. However, no regular educational call-up training will be conducted. (Editor: Lin Hsing-meng) 1150507
