(Central News Agency reporter Chiang Ming-yen, Taipei, 7th) Chunghwa Telecom's Q1 revenue set a new record for the same period since 2012, with earnings per share of NT$1.3, surpassing the high end of its financial forecast. Chunghwa Telecom stated that this was mainly due to the growth of its information and communication technology (ICT) business. Chunghwa Telecom is advancing its 6G transformation and developing AI application services, laying out 6G ahead of schedule through 5G standalone deployment.
Chunghwa Telecom today announced its self-reported consolidated revenue for Q1 2026 was NT$59.99 billion, an increase of 7.5% compared to the same period last year; earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) were NT$23.3 billion, an increase of 3.4%; net profit attributable to owners of the parent company was NT$10.11 billion, an increase of 3.2%; and earnings per share were NT$1.3.
Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Kuo Chih-cheng stated that Chunghwa Telecom's performance in Q1 2026 was strong, with key financial indicators including operating revenue, operating profit, net profit attributable to owners of the parent company, and earnings per share all exceeding the high end of the quarterly financial forecast and setting a new record for Q1 revenue since 2012.
Chunghwa Telecom President Lin Rong-tzu pointed out that Chunghwa Telecom's outstanding operational performance was mainly due to the sustained strong growth of its information and communication technology (ICT) business, with both recurring revenue and project contract amounts reaching new highs for the same period. Driven by high growth demand in key areas such as IDC, cloud, and AIoT, the ICT business achieved impressive revenue performance, demonstrating Chunghwa Telecom's grasp of the new growth momentum brought by digital transformation and AI applications.
Lin Rong-tzu noted that mobile and broadband businesses continued to maintain stable growth, benefiting from the increased 5G penetration rate and the sustained growth in average revenue per user (ARPU). At the same time, the number of users for various value-added services in consumer application services has reached the million-user milestone, demonstrating the effectiveness of high value-added services.
Lin Rong-tzu stated that Chunghwa Telecom is advancing its 6G transformation and developing AI application services. Through the phased deployment of 5G standalone (Standalone) networks, targeting specific vertical application areas and core business districts, it is laying out 6G ahead of schedule.
At the same time, Lin Rong-tzu said that Chunghwa Telecom's AI layout has achieved significant results, including commercializing AI infrastructure with AI computing centers as the core, and building the CHT AI Factory platform, which integrates DeepFlow solutions, computing resources, diverse AI models, and agents, to provide customers with AI application services and increase AI-related revenue growth in 2026.
