Consumption in cultural and sports activities, in particular, saw significant growth. The holiday economy has become an important driving force for expanding domestic demand in China.

According to reports from mainland media First Financial and Securities Daily, data from the State Taxation Administration also showed that sales revenue from tourism, sightseeing, and entertainment services increased by 21.2% year-on-year. Specifically, sales revenue for cultural services and sports services grew by 42.3% and 44.1% respectively compared to the same period last year. Among these, performing arts, including concerts, and fitness services increased by 41.7% and 50.2% respectively compared to the same period last year.

Sports events represented by the Chinese Super League and Scottish Premiership, as well as music festivals and concerts, drove a boom in travel consumption, including accommodation, catering services, and consumption in surrounding scenic spots.

Especially with the continuous efforts and effectiveness of policies and measures to promote the development of service consumption, service consumption continues to upgrade and shows high enthusiasm, injecting strong impetus into high-quality economic development.

The Securities Daily reported that the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee meeting held on April 28 clearly pointed out, "We must deeply tap the potential of domestic demand. We must expand the supply of high-quality goods and services and promote consumption upgrading." The performance of cultural and tourism consumption during the May Day holiday shows that the holiday economy has become an important lever for expanding domestic demand and promoting high-quality economic development.
