(Central News Agency reporter Tsai Chih-ming, Chiayi County, 7th) The Chiayi Investigation Brigade of the Coast Guard Administration's Investigation Branch last year apprehended a suspect surnamed Zeng for possessing a large quantity of ketamine, drug coffee packets, and other illicit substances. The case was transferred to the Chiayi District Prosecutor's Office for investigation under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act. However, after being released on bail, Zeng committed suicide due to guilt, and the case was ultimately dismissed.
The Chiayi Investigation Brigade announced today in a press release that Zeng sold drugs in public places throughout Chiayi County and City, acting very boldly. After identifying his residence, in August last year, a special task force was jointly formed with the Yunlin Investigation Brigade of the Coast Guard Administration's Investigation Branch, the Fourth Coastal Patrol Team of the Central Branch, and the Zhongpu Precinct of the Chiayi County Police Bureau, directed by the Chiayi District Prosecutor's Office for investigation.
The Chiayi Investigation Brigade stated that on September 25 last year, they seized the opportunity when the main suspect was about to go out, arrested him, and executed a search warrant issued by the court at his residence. They seized 544.34 grams of Class 3 drug ketamine, 100 packets of drug coffee, and 41.4 grams of amphetamine mixed with fruit powder, among other illegal evidence.
The Chiayi Investigation Brigade pointed out that the entire case was transferred to the Chiayi District Prosecutor's Office for investigation under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act. However, Zeng committed suicide due to guilt after being released on bail. Since the person has died, the entire case was dismissed.
The Chiayi Investigation Brigade calls on the public that if they discover illegal maritime activities or clues of smuggling and illegal entry, or report foreign/Chinese warships, official vessels, and abnormal targets under 20 tons, they can call the Coast Guard's "118" free reporting hotline. There is a chance to receive generous rewards, working together to maintain social order and create a drug-free homeland. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150507
