(Central News Agency reporter Li Yawan, Taipei, 7th) Kuomintang Chairman Cheng Li-wen plans to visit the United States, hoping to meet with US President Trump, and even said she supports Trump in saying "anti-Taiwan independence." The Mainland Affairs Council stated that "not supporting Taiwan independence" is not equal to "anti-Taiwan independence," which sends a bad and serious signal to the international community.

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) held a regular press conference this afternoon, hosted by Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Liang Wen-chieh.

Liang Wen-chieh jokingly said that he didn't know if the KMT delegation could meet Trump (Donald Trump), but they would try very hard to do so, "Everyone can guess the probability themselves."

He said that Cheng Li-wen supporting Trump in saying "anti-Taiwan independence" is a very serious statement. "Not supporting Taiwan independence" and "anti-Taiwan independence" seem to be the same thing, but they are not.

Liang Wen-chieh emphasized that many problems currently faced by Taiwan are due to the Chinese Communist Party's opposition, such as the Taiwan Coffee Association being required to use "CHINESE TAIPEI" instead of "TAIWAN" in competitions, the oppression of Interior Minister Liu Shih-fang's relative Yan Wen-chun working in mainland China, and President Lai Ching-te's visit to diplomatic allies in Eswatini being blocked.

Liang Wen-chieh said that the chairman of Taiwan's largest opposition party not only supports "anti-Taiwan independence" but also calls on the United States to follow suit, which is a very bad and serious signal to the international community. Such incorrect statements may have serious consequences for Taiwan, and he hopes they will think twice before acting.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at a White House press conference on the 5th local time that Taiwan may be a topic of discussion when Trump meets with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week.

Liang Wen-chieh stated that from Rubio's remarks, it can be seen that the United States does not want to talk about Taiwan, but the Chinese Communist Party very much wants to talk about Taiwan, "so the Taiwan issue will inevitably be discussed. We hope that it will not go beyond a controllable range and will not have adverse effects on Taiwan."

Cheng Li-wen mentioned in an earlier interview with Bloomberg that when Trump meets Xi Jinping, mainland China will reiterate the political bottom line of "one China and opposing Taiwan independence." It is rumored that mainland China hopes the United States will shift from "not supporting Taiwan independence" to "anti-Taiwan independence." Cheng Li-wen said she would support Trump's statement of "anti-Taiwan independence." (Editor: Yang Sheng-ju) 1150507
