(Central News Agency reporter Li Jian-zhong, Taipei 7th) The first round of the Asian Tour - Taiwan Glass Taifong Open, held in Changhua, Taiwan, took place today. Local players Chang Che-yu and Liu Yong-hua both shot 4-under-par 68, tying for 5th place and performing the best among Taiwanese players. Thai player Tawit Polthai holds the sole lead with 66.

Local player Chang Che-yu recorded 5 birdies and 1 bogey. He stated in an interview after the game, "Today, all my shots were consistently good. I successfully hit 15 fairways, and my greens in regulation rate was as high as 88%. If my iron shots were a bit more accurate and closer to the hole on a few more holes, I would have had a chance to make more birdies."

He mentioned that he recently adjusted the sequence of his swing power, making the ball much more obedient. Also, due to heavy rain the day before yesterday, the greens were softer and not as fast, making putting easier. His goal for this year is to make it to the final two rounds.

Liu Yong-hua made 3 birdies, 1 eagle, and 1 bogey. He said, "This is my second year playing on the Asian Tour, and I've already played in three events. I only made the cut successfully at the Singapore Open, so I hope to achieve a good ranking at this Taifong Open on home soil."

Sole leader Tawit Polthai from Thailand recorded 7 birdies and 1 bogey today. He participated last year and finished tied for 27th. Although he performed well in the first round today, he still feels that the course's greens are very challenging.

Polthai, 31, was the money leader on the 2025 Asian Development Tour (ADT). This is his first year playing on the Asian Tour. Although he only made the cut in one of his first four tournaments, he is still quite confident about the Taifong Open. (Edited by Hsieh Ya-chu) 1150507
