The Central Prosecutor's Office stated today that cases involving alleged violations of the Personal Data Protection Act at Airelli Clinic's Taichung Wunsin and Taichung Chongde branches have been assigned and will be transferred to the New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office for joint investigation after consultation. The entire case originated when a female netizen reported that on the 1st, she went to Airelli Clinic's Banqiao branch for a body sculpting treatment. While changing clothes in the treatment room, she discovered an unknown device in the corner of the ceiling suspected of containing a camera. Clinic staff claimed it was a smoke detector. After the woman reported it to the police, officers arrived and dismantled the device, confirming a camera inside. The New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office directed the Haishan Precinct and Women and Children's Protection Team to launch a search. Following leads, it was discovered that a vendor surnamed Hsieh was suspected of being instructed to dismantle the main monitoring units in 10 branches north of central Taiwan to destroy evidence. Prosecutors seized disguised surveillance main units and cameras from branches including Banqiao, Xinzhuang, Yonghe, Linkou, Zhongxiao, Zhanqian, Nanjing, Taoyuan, Taichung Wunsin, and Taichung Chongde. Investigations revealed multiple potential victims, with 7 victims having already filed reports. New Taipei prosecutors and police yesterday brought in Airelli Clinic President Chang Ru-shan and 7 others. After overnight questioning, early this morning, Chang Ru-shan, assistant surnamed Chang, and vendor surnamed Hsieh were detained on suspicion of offenses such as unlawful recording of sexual images.
