(Central News Agency reporter Kao Hua-chien, Taipei, 6th) The Executive Yuan stated that social media platforms have become the main channel for understanding transitional justice, and the recovery of ill-gotten party assets is the most impressive policy. The Executive Yuan's location is an unjust site of the 228 Incident. In response to the upcoming May 19 White Terror Memorial Day, the Executive Yuan will hold special guided tours on May 15, which can be reserved for visits.

The Executive Yuan announced today via a press release that a wave of historical reflection has recently emerged in Taiwanese society. To broaden the social visibility of transitional justice issues, the Executive Yuan's Human Rights Department, National Human Rights Museum, and Ill-gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee held the "2026 Book Festival – Book Market" at Treasure Hill Artist Village from April 18 to 19, setting up booths and interacting with over 400 members of the public.

The Executive Yuan stated that feedback from the public shows that social media platforms have become the main channel for most people to learn about transitional justice, and the recovery of ill-gotten party assets is the most impressive transitional justice policy.

The Executive Yuan added that, in addition, the Human Rights Department has recently focused on three aspects: guided tours of unjust sites, public-private cooperation, and the preparation of educational resources, to enable transitional justice to reach a wider public through different channels.

The Executive Yuan stated that regarding guided tours of unjust sites, the "Action Strategy for the Preservation and Revitalization of Unjust Sites" was promulgated in September 2025, promoting the preservation and revitalization of unjust sites and allowing the public to conduct on-site investigations. The Executive Yuan's location is one of the unjust sites of the 228 Incident. In response to the upcoming May 19 White Terror Memorial Day, the Executive Yuan will hold special guided tours on May 15, with dedicated personnel providing in-depth explanations of the historical context of the unjust sites. The public is welcome to make reservations online (website: https://www.ey.gov.tw/Eyvisit/A2724644448C178D).

Regarding public-private cooperation, the Executive Yuan's Human Rights Department launched the "Memory, Imagination, Action: Transitional Justice and Human Rights Action Incubation Project" for the first time, with a results presentation scheduled for August 29 and 30. Through results displays, exchange activities, guided tours, and short talks, the project will showcase action proposals from various private sector teams.

Regarding the preparation of transitional justice educational resources, to make it easier for all sectors of society to access relevant domestic and international transitional justice educational resources, the Executive Yuan's Human Rights Department commissioned the Taiwan Coexistence Youth Association to complete a resource inventory, compiling 190 resources, including usage guidelines, video guides, and teaching plans, to assist all sectors in conducting transitional justice education and related promotional activities (website: https://www.ey.gov.tw/tjb/93E05D81DDAF6843).

The Executive Yuan's Human Rights Department stated that next year marks the 80th anniversary of the 228 Incident, the 40th anniversary of the lifting of martial law, and the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the Act on Promoting Transitional Justice. The Human Rights Department will continue to promote transitional justice in diverse ways, integrating historical memory and human rights education into daily life, enabling the public to understand that democracy and freedom are hard-won, and using this as a starting point for all citizens to jointly protect democracy and freedom.
