Central News Agency (Reporter Zhong Rong-Feng, Taipei 6th) — Universal Scientific Industrial (USI), a subsidiary of packaging and testing giant ASE Technology Holding, forecasts that its second-quarter revenue will grow by a mid-single-digit percentage compared to the same period in 2025, and its operating profit margin is expected to increase year-on-year, returning to the level of the same period in 2024.
USI pointed out that it is actively deploying in AI server power supply and high-voltage current applications, setting up power distribution systems (PDU), and also developing server board cards. For server mainboards, USI plans to add production capacity in Mexico and Taiwan respectively.
Regarding its server operational strategy, USI stated at a recent investor conference that its parent company, ASE Technology Holding, has customers in advanced packaging business, which could bring more business opportunities to USI. With vertical integration capabilities within the group, USI can provide cloud service provider (CSP) customers with services ranging from chip-level packaging to board-level design and manufacturing.
In the data center business, USI stated that server power supply is also a key focus. ASE's powerSiP platform targets vertically integrated multi-level voltage regulation modules, improving system energy efficiency and reducing power consumption. USI revealed that it is collaborating with ASE to establish a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) laboratory, focusing on the application of HVDC transmission in future power technology development, including from HVDC power sources to Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) power supply and system-level verification. USI is mainly responsible for PDU collaborative research and development and system assembly.
In the server board card business, USI stated that it continues to increase investment in production capacity expansion, smart manufacturing, and production site布局 to meet customer needs.
In terms of capacity planning, USI pointed out that the monthly production capacity for AI accelerator cards can double in the first half of this year, and it is evaluating adding another production line. For server mainboards, USI plans to add production capacity in Mexico and Taiwan, primarily for high-complexity mainboard products required by hyperscale cloud service providers and AI server adoption.
USI noted that its server business revenue in the first quarter of this year grew by 100% year-on-year, with AI accelerator card business contributing the most to this growth. USI expects the growth rate of its server board card business this year to continue the momentum from the first quarter. Part of the revenue growth is due to the increase in prices of externally purchased Dynamic Random-Access Memory (DRAM), with the specific impact depending on subsequent DRAM price changes.
Regarding the progress of the PDU business, USI stated that it has submitted samples to customers for the first time and plans to complete the second submission before the end of the year. According to the original plan, product verification and mass production line setup will be completed in 2027, with specific production plans depending on the actual progress of customer projects.
