(Central News Agency reporter Chang Qi, Hualien County, May 6) In less than 9 kilometers from TRA Hualien Station to Jian Cihcheng Station, there are 7 dangerous level crossings. In recent years, TRA has promoted intelligent level crossings, with monitoring systems adding image recognition, optical radar detection, and other features. When obstacles are detected, warnings are issued and transmitted back to the train driver's cab and the control center.

Wu Jia-cun, head of TRA Hualien Electromechanical Section, stated that TRA's 'Electromechanical Intelligence Upgrade Project' includes the upgrade of level crossing video surveillance systems, automatic protection centralized monitoring devices, and manual warning system update projects, which have been completed and put into operation along the Hualien railway line.

Wu Jia-cun pointed out that the core of this project is to integrate automatic level crossing detection systems, combining the latest thermal sensing and AI image recognition technologies, and adding optical radar detectors. This enables 24-hour precise detection, regardless of rain or fog, establishing a 'virtual fence' in the level crossing area.

TRA Hualien Electromechanical Section stated that when a train is 2 to 3 kilometers away from a level crossing, if the system detects an obstacle, warning lights will flash, and a signal will be transmitted back to the train driver's cab and the control center. In case of an emergency, the train will decelerate in advance or stop automatically.

The Hualien Electromechanical Section pointed out that the backend control platform has also been upgraded to an 'All In One Intelligent Integrated Control Platform,' enabling real-time monitoring via fiber optic transmission, shortening the previously complex inspection and repair work.

The Hualien Electromechanical Section stated that Hualien is the priority area for implementation, and the entire county has completed the integration of detection systems. It will gradually be expanded to other counties and cities across Taiwan in the future.

Jian Township has densely distributed level crossings, including many important intersections in Nanchang Village, Daoxiang Village, and Yongxing Village, with large traffic volumes. Jian Township Mayor You Shu-jen stated that through technological means, passive protection mechanisms are replaced, affirming TRA's promotion of intelligent transportation systems.

You Shu-jen said that level crossing safety still relies on public self-discipline and cooperation, urging everyone to implement the 'stop, look, listen' rule. (Edited by: Chang Ya-ching) 1150506
