(Central News Agency reporter Yang Chi-jen, Seoul, 6th) The three-day AI EXPO KOREA 2026 commenced today at the COEX Exhibition Center in Seoul. For the first time, 16 leading Taiwanese enterprises have formed a Taiwan Pavilion, hoping to bring more possibilities to both the Taiwanese and Korean markets with their comprehensive industry chain strength, from "chips to applications."

The South Korean government is actively developing artificial intelligence (AI). This year marks the first time a group of Taiwanese manufacturers is participating in AI EXPO KOREA. The participating Taiwanese companies in the Taiwan Pavilion will exhibit solutions addressing three major core demands of the Korean market: resolving GPU shortages and cost pressures by demonstrating high-performance GPU scheduling and liquid cooling technology; ensuring data sovereignty by responding to Korea's high standards for information security; and accelerating AI transformation in the manufacturing industry.

Regarding the first opportunity for Taiwanese companies to enter AI EXPO KOREA, Wang Hsien-hui, director of the Seoul Taiwan Trade Center, told a CNA reporter, "The entire world is developing AI, and both Korea and Taiwan are core to AI development. Our application scenarios and needs are actually very similar. Perhaps this is a challenge, but it is also an opportunity for manufacturers."

Participating manufacturers include both software and hardware companies. Among them, Wang Chia-lin, Senior Project Manager at Leadtek Technology, is serving as the head of the Taiwanese delegation for this AI EXPO KOREA. Leadtek Technology's exhibits include a driver monitoring system that can automatically detect whether the driver is focused, as well as virtual avatar effects and gesture recognition.

Wang Chia-lin expressed hope that through this exhibition, Taiwan and South Korea can have more opportunities for exchange and cooperation.

Participating company "Voiceless Lab" has developed sign language technology, combining AI and 3D virtual characters to provide professional sign language services. In Taiwan, they have collaborated with units such as the Rakuten Monkeys professional baseball team and the Airport MRT. Founder Chen Po-jui stated that Korean society also highly values sign language services, so they hope to explore opportunities in Korea and find suitable agents or partners.
