Central News Agency (Reporter Pan Chih-Yi, Taipei, 6th) — Following higher closes on US stocks, with the Nasdaq index reaching a new high and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surging 4.23%, despite TSMC ADR closing lower, TSMC's stock price rose by 30 NT dollars in early trading, driving the Taiwan stock market up over 700 points to 41554 points in early trading today, once again setting a new record high for Taiwan stocks.

At 9:15 AM, the TAIEX index reached 41509 points, up 740 points, with a transaction amount of 292.6 billion New Taiwan Dollars.
