(Central News Agency reporter Wang Bao-er, Taipei, May 6) Taipei's rodent problem has drawn attention. Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Chen Hsiu-pao today asked National Palace Museum Director Xiao Zonghuang if there were related situations, and Xiao Zonghuang responded that it is basically impossible for them to enter the Northern Branch of the National Palace Museum. In addition, the US-Iran war also drew attention from legislators regarding the National Palace Museum's wartime contingency measures.
The Legislative Yuan's Education and Culture Committee today questioned the National Palace Museum's budget allocation for year 115. Chen Hsiu-pao stated that Taipei City currently has a rodent problem, and the Zhishan Garden and Zhide Garden outdoors at the Northern Branch are green spaces visited by tourists.
Xiao Zonghuang responded that the Northern Branch occasionally has problems with rats and snakes because it is close to the mountains, but they are rarely seen in Zhishan Garden and Zhide Garden. There is nothing to eat inside the museum, so rats will not enter the interior, but the National Palace Museum will still strengthen its vigilance; the Southern Branch, being near Taoyuan Sugar's land, may have field mice.
International affairs also became a focus. Kuomintang Legislator Ko Ru-chun mentioned that Iran's Rose Palace was destroyed in the war, and museums suffer various types of damage in wartime. The National Palace Museum did not conduct emergency drills involving wartime scenarios in year 114, and communication measures need to be prepared in advance for emergency situations where the museum might lose internet connection.
Xiao Zonghuang stated that this year, they will cooperate with the National Security Office to conduct emergency drills. The National Palace Museum team currently has a LINE group for communication, but preparations are still needed regarding what communication tools to use in emergency situations, and the National Palace Museum will review this.
