Taipei, May 6 (CNA) — Amid the dispute over the operating rights of Taipei Main Station mall, Breeze Group has questioned the Taiwan Railways Administration's (TRA) selection process, citing concerns about conflicts of interest and information leakage. TRA General Manager Feng Hui-sheng stated today that Breeze submitted an objection letter on May 4, and TRA will handle and respond appropriately within 20 days from the day after receipt, as per regulations. Breeze, however, is calling for TRA to suspend the final contract signing process until the dispute is clarified.

The tender results for the Taipei Main Station mall operating rights were announced on April 28 this year, with TRA declaring Shin Kong Mitsukoshi as the most preferred applicant, and "Breeze Plaza Industry Co., Ltd." as the second most preferred applicant. However, Breeze questioned the selection process and evaluation mechanism, believing that the review committee members were involved in conflicts of interest.

Breeze issued a statement today, expressing respect for TRA General Manager Feng Hui-sheng's explanation of the objection procedure. Breeze confirmed that it had rectified and resubmitted its objection application on May 4, as required, and the case has now entered the legal dispute resolution process.

Breeze pointed out that it is currently the only group to raise an objection, primarily due to multiple doubts arising during the evaluation process. Based on facts and responsibility, it is necessary to raise specific questions. If the selection process was indeed fair and flawless, relevant objections would naturally not stand and should be able to be clarified through the review process.

Breeze stated that before major disputes are clarified, it urges TRA to carefully assess relevant risks and suspend the final contract signing process before completing negotiations and signing, to avoid subsequent irreversible legal and procedural disputes.

Breeze also expressed its expectation that TRA's reply within the legal period will provide specific explanations regarding the dispute, clarify public doubts, and uphold the procedural legitimacy of this case. Breeze Group will continue to protect its rights through relevant legal procedures. (Editor: Zhai Sijia) 1150506
