(Central News Agency reporter Yang Szu-jui, Tainan, May 6) Tainan City Government has invested NT$36.5 million to acquire the city's fourth 52-meter aerial ladder fire truck, which is also Tainan's highest operating height fire vehicle. It can respond to fires up to approximately 16 stories high, and its water jet can reach nearly 20 stories, enhancing high-altitude rescue capabilities.

The Tainan City Fire Bureau held an inauguration ceremony today at the plaza in front of the Fifth Rescue and Emergency Medical Service Brigade, presided over by Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che. The new vehicle will be assigned to the Fuxing Sub-station of the Fifth Brigade, covering the densely populated Yongkang District and East District.

Huang Wei-che stated in his speech that the 52-meter aerial ladder fire truck activated today cost NT$36.5 million, making it the highest operating height fire vehicle in Tainan City. It is also the fifth aerial ladder truck approved for purchase during his tenure. Facing the increasing number of high-rise buildings in the city, the city government continues to expand the fire budget, hoping that equipment will be "prepared but not needed," but still needing to be fully prepared to ensure upgraded high-altitude rescue capabilities.

He said that this aerial ladder truck can respond to fires up to approximately 16 stories high, and its performance ranks among the best in Taiwan. In recent years, high-rise fires have frequently occurred both domestically and internationally, highlighting the importance of fire safety concepts. He called on citizens to use fire-resistant building materials, avoid stacking flammable materials, and pay attention to daily fire safety to jointly create a safe living environment.

Data provided by the Tainan City Government Fire Bureau indicates that since Mayor Huang Wei-che took office, over NT$900 million has been invested in purchasing various fire trucks and equipment, totaling 226 vehicles, including aerial ladder trucks, rescue equipment vehicles, and disaster investigation vehicles. With the continuous increase in high-rise buildings, the deployment of the new vehicle will be combined with the existing training system to build a more comprehensive high-altitude rescue defense line, further enhancing the living safety of citizens.
