Police stated that the driver was not intoxicated, and the cause of the accident will be further clarified.

The Taichung City Police Department's Second Precinct received a report around 12:32 PM, stating that a traffic accident occurred in front of No. 99, Yongxing Street in the North District, and immediately dispatched officers to handle it.

Preliminary police investigation found that Mr. Chiu was driving a small truck straight along Yongxing Street from Meiting Street towards Dehua Street. Due to an unknown reason, the vehicle lost control and consecutively struck two ordinary heavy motorcycles parked by the roadside and two street stalls, also damaging a nearby building, resulting in damage to multiple properties.
