Firefighters were alerted and pulled out a 61-year-old woman who showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.

Zheng Wei-xun, Deputy Commander of the Pingtung County Fire Bureau Special Search and Rescue Brigade, told the media that at around 1 PM today, they received a report requesting assistance for a drowning at Alpaca Waterfall in Majia Township. Majia, Sandimen, Changzhi detachments, the Special Search and Rescue Brigade, and the First Brigade, a total of 22 people, were dispatched for rescue.

Zheng Wei-xun said that at around 3 PM, a 61-year-old woman was rescued. She showed no signs of life when pulled ashore. Search and rescue personnel jointly moved her to the ambulance parking area, and at 6 PM, she was sent to Longquan Veterans General Hospital by a Majia ambulance for emergency treatment.

Police initially clarified that the woman, surnamed Zhang, was pronounced dead after being sent to the hospital for treatment. Ms. Zhang went with a male friend today, and the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.

On the 1st, a drowning accident also occurred at Lion King Waterfall in Majia Township, resulting in the death of a male graduate student.
