Traffic once backed up for 5 kilometers. Two drivers sustained minor injuries and were sent to the hospital, with the exact cause of the accident pending clarification.

Upon receiving the report, the National Highway Police Bureau stated that around 9 AM today, a five-vehicle accident occurred at 12.9 kilometers mark on National Highway No. 1, southbound Xizhi section. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 28-year-old man surnamed Gao, driving a large truck transporting cement bags from Xizhi to Beitou, allegedly failed to notice the conditions ahead, rear-ended a passenger car driven by a man surnamed Chen, pushing it into another passenger car driven by a man surnamed Lin, and also involving two container trucks, resulting in a total of five vehicles in the pile-up.

Police stated that all five drivers tested negative for alcohol. Mr. Chen and Mr. Lin, the drivers, sustained minor injuries and were sent to Tri-Service General Hospital Neihu Branch for treatment. As it was during morning rush hour, cement bags were scattered on the road, and traffic once backed up for about 5 kilometers. The scene was cleared and traffic resumed at 10:52 AM.
