To revitalize industries and stimulate the local economy, the Shoufeng Township Office in Hualien County will distribute a ''Revitalization Caring Fund'' of NT$2,000 to each resident. An estimated 16,597 residents are eligible, with the collection period ending on May 29. Failure to collect the funds by the deadline will result in forfeiture of the right to the payment.
Township Chief Tseng Shu-yi noted that while the township distributed a NT$1,000 stimulus in 2025, Hualien has faced significant economic pressure this year due to successive earthquakes, inflation, a downturn in tourism, and industrial impacts. Following discussions with the township council on methods to boost local industries and consumer spending, a proposal was passed to issue the NT$2,000 stimulus.
According to the township office, eligible recipients are those who were registered residents of Shoufeng Township on or before January 31, 2026. This covers 7,648 households across 15 villages, totaling 16,597 people, with a total budget of NT$33.194 million.
The distribution window is set from May 23 to May 29. Those who do not claim the funds within this timeframe will be considered to have waived their rights. Additionally, payments will not be issued to individuals who pass away before receiving the funds.
Shoufeng is not alone in this initiative; Hualien''s Fuli Township will also begin distributing an ''Economic Revitalization Fund'' of NT$3,000 per person starting May 19, benefiting approximately 9,500 residents.
