(Central News Agency Reporter Wu Hsin-yun, Taipei, 6th) The relaxation of conditions for foreign helper applications may impact the employment of household service workers. The Ministry of Labor has established an employment support program, which will provide eligible workers with a training incentive of NT$5,000 or NT$8,000 per month for training, as well as employment incentives, up to a maximum of NT$30,000.

The government recently relaxed the conditions for applying for foreign domestic helpers. As long as a family has children under 12 years old, they can apply for foreign domestic helpers, and a monthly employment stability fee of NT$5,000 must be paid. For families with special needs, such as children with rare diseases or three children under 12 years old, the employment stability fee is reduced to NT$2,000, and applications are given priority review.

To avoid the employment impact on household service workers after the relaxation of foreign helper application conditions, the Ministry of Labor has formulated the "Household Service Worker Employment Support and Capability Enhancement Program," which will provide relevant workers with support allowances, training subsidies, training incentives, and employment incentives.

Huang Chiao-ting, head of the Employment Service Division of the Ministry of Labor's Workforce Development Agency, told the Central News Agency that the program applies to workers who have been engaged in household services for more than three months, with monthly working hours of 60 hours or more, or a monthly salary of NT$22,000 or more, and whose monthly salary or working hours have decreased by more than 30% after April 13.

Regarding training incentives, Huang Chiao-ting pointed out that as long as eligible individuals participate in training courses organized or commissioned by the Ministry of Labor, 80% to 100% of the training fees will be subsidized, and a training incentive of NT$5,000 or NT$8,000 per month will also be provided for a maximum of six months. If participating in training courses from other ministries, the maximum training fee subsidy is NT$40,000.

Huang Chiao-ting also said that if workers find employment after training, the program will provide employment incentives: NT$10,000 for full-time employment for one month, and an additional NT$20,000 for three months, totaling up to NT$30,000. In addition, there is a support allowance of NT$4,000 if they seek employment or participate in employment promotion workshops twice within one month of joining the program.

Huang Chiao-ting said that the program will be implemented until the end of 2027, and eligible individuals can apply. The program is expected to cultivate 4,000 household service workers. (Editor: Li Heng-shan) 1150506
