Central News Agency (CNA) Correspondent Li Hsien-feng, Hualien County, 6th) The "East Rift Valley Indigenous Games" deepens regional tourism value. This year, the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area Administration assisted a studio in the Maibul Tribe of Ruisui Township, Hualien County, combining the unique historical culture of the Sakizaya people with a tribe walking tour, designing the "Five Colors Plant Dining Table" tour, adding new color to tribe tourism.

The East Rift Valley National Scenic Area Administration (ERVNSAA) under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications Tourism Bureau stated that through the "East Rift Valley Indigenous Games" brand, it has successfully implemented tribal industry enhancement projects over the years. This year, it successfully assisted the "Healing Meandering Studio" in the Maibul Tribe of Ruisui Township to shape a new brand, "Funsis" (meaning "fragrance" in Sakizaya).

The Maibul Tribe (Maibul) means "a place with a lot of silt" in the tribal language. After the "Takubuan Incident" (or "Kaliawan Incident") in the late Qing Dynasty, some Sakizaya people relocated here to escape persecution, and it is now one of the most concentrated areas of the Sakizaya population.

ERVNSAA stated that young people returning to the Maibul Tribe jointly operate the Healing Meandering Studio. This time, through the "East Hualien Rift Valley Tribal Tourism Promotion Project" and guided assistance, they have relaunched under the brand name "Funsis", and completed a deep cultural translation, combining the imagery of the five-color envoys in Sakizaya rituals with various indigenous plants to create a practical aesthetic dining table and in-depth tour.

The tour activities include a tribe walking tour and a five-senses natural experience, starting with an Artemisia blessed purification ceremony. Tourists follow the tribal youth into the Maibul Tribe to learn about common indigenous plants and witness the history of tribal migration, as well as experience forest aroma healing activities and participate in mochi making.

The half-day activity combines a tribe walking tour, mountain forest knowledge, interactive experiences, aroma healing, special meals, and the wonderful singing of elders. The brand manager, Yi-Li Ha-Ni, stated that partners have continuously learned more about the land where they grew up through field research and interviews with elders over the years, and now hope to let travelers learn about the Sakizaya and Maibul Tribes through a five-senses experience.

To optimize tour quality, ERVNSAA specially introduced Le Wu-Shi La-Hou from the "Taiwan Indigenous Slow Food Chefs Alliance" and ecochef Chang Wen-teng, certified by the "Green Dining Guide", as consultants. For "Five Colors Plant Dining Table", one of the core elements of the tour, they use green, yellow, red, blue, and white colors, combined with the daily vegetable sheds of the Maibul Tribe, the custom of sharing beef, and the memory of collecting rattan hearts, to develop exquisite dishes corresponding to different cultural connotations, and systematically integrate the meal delivery process, menu design, and table setting to enhance market competitiveness.

ERVNSAA pointed out that a trial tour event was held recently, inviting several influencers, media, and tourism operators to participate, which received consistent praise. It is expected to become a regular booking tour in the future, and is anticipated to become an important highlight on the East Rift Valley line.

ERVNSAA Director Hsu Tsung-min stated that through the counseling project, he has seen tribal youth creatively transform local characteristics into high-quality tourism assets. The brand transformation of the Maibul Tribe's "Healing Meandering Studio" is a model example of tribal youth precisely connecting with government resources. It not only enhances local economic benefits but also serves as an important foundation for the inheritance and spread of ethnic culture, and it is believed that it can further connect with local operators in the future to drive the sustainable development of the Maibul Tribe's industry. He also hopes to attract more people to the East Rift Valley to explore the diverse and in-depth cultural charm of the tribes. (Edited by Li Heng-shan) 1150506
