(Central News Agency Reporter Tsao Ya-yen, New Taipei 7th) Airelly Clinic's New Taipei Banqiao branch was found to have a suspected pinhole camera hidden inside a smoke detector. After bringing in President Chang Ju-shan and 7 others yesterday, and conducting an overnight interrogation, the New Taipei District Prosecutors' Office today early morning requested detention and restricted visitation for Chang Ju-shan, Assistant Manager Zhang, and contractor Xie, on charges including unauthorized recording of sexual images.
On the 6th, New Taipei prosecutors and police conducted searches at four Airelly Clinic branches in Banqiao, Xinzhuang, Linkou, and Yonghe, and arrested Airelly Group President Chang Ju-shan, Assistant Manager Zhang, and contractor Xie. Group General Manager Liu also reported to the authorities as a defendant, and four branch managers were summoned for questioning.
After overnight interrogations, the prosecutor determined that Chang Ju-shan, Assistant Manager Zhang, contractor Xie, and General Manager Liu were suspected of violating criminal laws related to unauthorized recording of sexual images, unauthorized secret recording of private body parts of others, filming of sexual images of children and minors under the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act, and the Personal Data Protection Act.
The prosecutor indicated that Chang Ju-shan, Assistant Manager Zhang, and contractor Xie are highly suspected of committing the crimes, and there is a risk of destroying evidence and colluding with accomplices or witnesses, thus requesting detention and restricted visitation from the New Taipei District Court. General Manager Liu was not deemed to require detention and was released on NT$5 million bail with a restriction on leaving the country.
The entire case originated when a female netizen reported on the 1st that while undergoing body sculpting at Airelly Clinic's Banqiao branch, she found a suspicious device in the corner of the ceiling of the treatment room while changing clothes, which she suspected contained a camera lens. Clinic staff claimed it was a smoke detector. After the woman reported it to the police, officers arrived and dismantled the device, confirming a camera was inside.
The New Taipei District Prosecutors' Office directed the Haishan Precinct and the Women and Children's Protection Team to conduct searches. The investigation traced that contractor Xie was suspected of being instructed to remove surveillance mainframes from 10 branches in central and northern Taiwan to destroy evidence. Prosecutors seized disguised surveillance mainframes and lenses from branches including Banqiao, Xinzhuang, Yonghe, Linkou, Zhongxiao, Zhanqian, Nanjing, Taoyuan, Taichung Wenxin, and Taichung Chongde, and found suspected multiple victims. Currently, 7 victims have completed reporting.
The prosecutor also appealed to victims at all branches that if contacted by the police, they should cooperate to confirm and consider whether to file a complaint. They can also inquire with the police about whether their images are within the surveillance footage retention period and actively report to cooperate with the police investigation to further clarify the case.
