(Central News Agency reporter Cao Ya-yan, New Taipei, 6th) A pinhole camera was recently suspected to be hidden in a smoke detector at Aierli Clinic's Banqiao branch. New Taipei prosecutors and police today searched four branches and brought in eight people, including President Chang Ru-shan. It is understood that a vendor surnamed Xie was suspected of being instructed to remove surveillance hosts from 10 Aierli branches in central and northern Taiwan along the way to destroy evidence.
Recently, a netizen posted on social media that when she went to Aierli Medical Aesthetics Clinic's Banqiao branch for body sculpting and was changing clothes in the treatment room, she found an unknown device in the corner of the ceiling that was suspected of having a camera lens. Clinic staff insisted it was a smoke detector. After the woman reported to the police, officers arrived and dismantled the device, confirming there was a camera inside. The case was subsequently investigated for obstruction of privacy.
Today, the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office directed the New Taipei City Police Department's Haishan Precinct, Women and Children's Protection Team, and other units to conduct multiple searches at four Aierli Clinic branches (Banqiao, Xinzhuang, Linkou, Yonghe) and eight locations, including Chang Ru-shan's residence and office in Taipei City. Chang Ru-shan, his assistant surnamed Zhang, and the vendor surnamed Xie were detained at the residence. Liu, the general manager of Aierli Group, also appeared as a defendant. At the same time, prosecutors and police also brought in the managers of the four branches as witnesses to clarify the case.
It is understood that on May 1st, the Jiangcui Police Station of the Haishan Precinct received a public report alleging secret filming at Aierli Clinic's Banqiao branch. Personnel from the branch were interviewed for verification, and on the 3rd, the Haishan Precinct searched the Banqiao branch. Prosecutors and police found that there were surveillance camera lenses in the store but no host. Following clues, they discovered that the vendor surnamed Xie was suspected of being instructed to remove and format the host from the Banqiao branch, and then drove from northern Taiwan south, removing surveillance cameras and hosts from 10 Aierli branches north of Taichung, indicating a possibility of evidence destruction.
The police reported the case to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation. On the 3rd, the vendor surnamed Xie was detained in Taichung, and 10 surveillance hosts and lenses were seized from his car and office. However, at that time, because the victims had not yet completed their complaints, the prosecutors released the vendor surnamed Xie without bail after questioning.
Prosecutors and police subsequently identified many suspected victims from the seized surveillance footage. Currently, seven victims have reported to the police, leading to today's second wave of search operations. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150506
