Artistic Director Chien Wen-pin stated that Weiwuying is entering its 8th year of operation, and this year's opera production will reach a new milestone with the exclusive new version of "Il Trovatore," presenting a strong dark aesthetic and dramatic tension through a fresh stage language.
Weiwuying pointed out that the second-half program includes brand programs such as Weiwuying Jazz Week, Weiwuying Organ Festival, Open House, and Taiwan Dance Platform, inviting domestic and international artists to participate and create an art platform that connects local and international elements.
In addition, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the passing of Taiwanese modern musician Hsu Chang-hui, Weiwuying will launch a series of activities from November to December, including the "Heart for Homeland, Embrace Asia-Pacific" special exhibition, and the "Tracing the Sound, Continued Chapter" memorial concert in the concert hall, performing his classic works such as opera, vocal music, and oratorios.
Weiwuying stated that this year's Taiwan Dance Platform, themed "Crossing the Mirror - Plural Bodies," will bring together European and Asian artists to explore the multiple facets of body and culture through contemporary performance forms. It will also present works combining 360-degree panoramic projection by Anarchy Dance Theatre, and the international co-production "Ever-Moving City," among other programs.
In terms of music programs, the National Youth Symphony Orchestra will present the touring concert "Dream Resonance, Rhapsody," the Maestro Star Music Festival Symphony Concert, as well as the 2026 TC Music Festival "Above the Peak" and the Yongyuan x TC International Chamber Music Series "Schubert's Salon Time," showcasing the diverse styles of domestic and international musicians.
Theater programs include the Spring Sun Opera Troupe's epic drama "Jia Luo Xiang," starring Kuo Chun-mei and Sun Kai-lin; the Singing Collection Music Theater's musical "Climbing to the Rooftop to See the Moon," depicting stories of youth and growth; Contemporary Legend Theatre's 40th anniversary work "The Kingdom of Desire"; and Ming Hwa Yuan Arts & Cultural Group's annual flagship drama "Ulong Tian Xia," presenting the business legend of Li Chun-sheng, the "Father of Taiwan Oolong Tea."
In international theater, Australia's Patch Theatre will bring "My Shadow's Friend," depicting a child's growth journey; the Our Theatre's "Father, Mother" won the first Taipei Drama Award for Best Drama; and Berlin's Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz's "Dream List" explores contemporary social issues through a musical theater format.
