(Central News Agency reporter Wang Hsin-Yu, Taipei, 5th) Renowned singer Tsai Chin recently expressed her intention to retire. She stated today that her 'Don't Say Goodbye' tour is indeed her farewell concert, and she hopes to bid farewell to her audience in her best condition. As a singer nurtured in Taiwan, the September Taipei show will be her only return performance.

Tsai Chin stated today through her record company that she was deeply moved recently when she saw young audience members at a music festival willing to listen to her songs in the rain. This prompted her to announce her retirement from the music scene by the end of next year, which will also mark her 48th year in the industry. She hopes to bid farewell to her audience in her best condition, saying, "I shouldn't just disappear without a word, or announce it in the last song of a concert: 'This is my last concert.' If I did that, I would blame myself for letting down the audience too much; I should sing and bid farewell one concert at a time, to personally see the audience and express my deepest thanks."

Tsai Chin explained that the 'Don't Say Goodbye' tour is actually her farewell concert. The reason for not letting the audience know beforehand was that she didn't want only reluctance to part, but rather for the audience to feel satisfied and comforted after listening. "That's the farewell concert I want!"

Tsai Chin revealed that the 'Don't Say Goodbye' tour has received a great response, with many places inviting her for return performances. However, the only one she agreed to was in Taiwan, "because I am a singer nurtured in Taiwan." As for whether there will be opportunities for additional shows next year, she stated that she will consider the audience's reaction in Taiwan and her schedule, and it is currently uncertain. A few tickets are still available for Tsai Chin's 'Don't Say Goodbye' concert on September 13. (Edited by Chang Ming-Kun) 1150505
