(Central News Agency reporter Chang Chi, Hualien County, 5th) The Taroko National Park Management Office is immediately carrying out renovation work on the public toilets at Taroko Terrace and the surrounding buildings of the administrative center. From now until October 24th, temporary movable toilets will be provided at Taroko Terrace, with completion and activation expected before the Canyon Art Music Festival in November.

The Taroko National Park Management Office stated that after the 0403 earthquake, many scenic areas within the park are still under reconstruction. The management office has collaborated with local communities on various activities, which were previously concentrated in the terrace area with limited space. Considering that the plaza in front of the administrative center has landscaping and elevation differences, it is not suitable for wheelchair users and strollers.

The Taroko National Park Management Office stated that this renovation project will comprehensively improve the flatness and connecting pathways of the plaza in front of the administrative center, optimizing it into a barrier-free environment, moving towards providing a more friendly space for future markets and activities.

Regarding the public toilets, the Taroko National Park Management Office stated that the original design had equal space for male and female toilets. However, when there are many visitors, there are often situations where the female toilets are insufficient. Sometimes, temporary passages even have to be created in the male toilets for female visitors to use.

The Taroko National Park Management Office stated that this public toilet renovation will be designed to meet usage needs, increasing the female toilet space and adding barrier-free ramps at the entrances and exits. Both projects are expected to be completed by the end of October, aiming to be operational before the Taroko Gorge Art Music Festival in mid-November.

Taipei National Park Management Office reminds that from now until October 24th, the public toilets at the Taroko Terrace parking lot are closed. 15 movable public toilets and 1 accessible public toilet are provided next to the construction area for visitors' use; the construction area is fenced and has reflectors, which does not affect the opening of surrounding attractions.
