(Central News Agency reporter Yu Hsiao-han, Taipei, May 5) Family travelers no longer need to worry about children getting bored during layovers, as Taoyuan Airport has numerous children's play areas available for passengers, including nursing rooms and other family-friendly services, allowing Taoyuan Airport to enter the top 10 of this year's "World's Best Family Friendly Airports."
Taoyuan International Airport Corporation Deputy General Manager Yu Chung-li stated today at a regular press conference that the airport continues to focus on the needs of family travelers, improving various family-friendly facilities and service processes.
Yu Chung-li pointed out that in the 2026 evaluation by the British non-profit independent survey organization Skytrax, Taoyuan Airport ranked 24th among the world's top 100 airports and entered the top 10 in the "World's Best Family Friendly Airports" evaluation.
Skytrax stated that the evaluation focuses on aspects such as family security checks, immigration processes, children's play areas, and infant care spaces. Taoyuan Airport's recognition in the global top 10 demonstrates the airport company's continuous investment in creating a family-friendly environment and optimizing service quality in recent years.
Yu Chung-li noted that currently, 53 nursing (breastfeeding) rooms and baby care rooms are planned throughout the terminals, providing private and comfortable environments. These spaces incorporate elements such as Taiwan black bears, Qiaohu, and Sanrio series to create various themed areas, allowing family travelers to enjoy a warmer and friendlier experience during their layovers.
The children's play area near C5 concourse is built with green building materials, featuring slides, building block walls, and interactive game walls, and provides bilingual Chinese and English picture books for parent-child reading. Next to the play area, a baby care room and nursing area are set up, equipped with changing tables, sinks, lotions, warm wet wipes, and dry tissues.
Yu Chung-li mentioned that the newly built "Qiaohu Play Area" near A5 concourse is designed with a Qiaohu bus theme, fully equipped with safety mats to provide a safe activity space for children. The "Ocean World Technology Interactive Wall" next to D1 concourse uses large interactive devices combined with photographic projection technology to allow travelers to transform into underwater creatures.
Yu Chung-li stated that there are no statistics on the usage rate of family play facilities, but children can be seen playing in the play areas when passing by, with Taiwanese family travelers being the main users.
With Mother's Day approaching, Yu Chung-li mentioned that Taoyuan Airport's duty-free shops have launched various activities since late April, including AI interactive experiences, DIY experiences, shopping discounts, and redemption of soap carnations for purchases exceeding a certain amount.
