(Central News Agency reporter Huang Li-chen, Taipei, 5th) Taipei Metro's customer service center AI system has received multiple messages since March from an unidentified man claiming he would kill, commit arson, and plant bombs. Taipei City police announced today that following leads, they apprehended the suspect, a man named Guo, in Changhua County, and the Taipei District Prosecutors Office's request for detention was granted by the court.

The Taipei City Police Department's Zhongshan Precinct today issued a press release announcing the case's resolution. Since March, the Taipei Metro customer service center had repeatedly received messages from an unidentified man via its AI customer service system, stating, "I want to kill, I want to commit arson, I am ready to plant bombs," severely impacting the safety and order of the MRT system and causing panic among relevant personnel.

The police formed a special task force, reviewed relevant communication records and online data, and reported to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for command and investigation. They identified a man named Guo, residing in Lugang Township, Changhua County, as a major suspect. On April 15, they traveled south to execute an arrest operation, successfully apprehending him and seizing one mobile phone used by Guo to send the threatening messages.

It is understood that Guo had also previously threatened Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taiwan Railways companies, and had only recently returned home after a period of detention.

After questioning, Guo was transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation on suspicion of public intimidation. The prosecutor's request for detention was approved by the Taipei District Court.

The Zhongshan Precinct emphasized that the MRT system is an important public transportation facility, and any form of threat or speech endangering safety could lead to major security incidents. The police will continue to enforce the law strictly and will not tolerate such acts, urging the public not to take chances and break the law. (Editor: Hsiao Po-wen) 1150505
